Introduction

The Postgraduate Program (Master) in Popular Demands and Regional Dynamics (PPGDire/UFT) is located on the campus of Araguaína, a municipality in the north of the state of Tocantins. This Program has the following objectives:

 

General Objective

To develop interdisciplinary studies on vulnerable urban and/or rural populations in the north of the country, based on their demands and interests in order to understand the regional dynamics and the processes of exclusion in the different types of nuances: social, geographic, economic, psychological, educational and linguistic; to bring to light their characteristics and to help with interventions and productions of social technologies appropriate to the studied population; the training of teachers for higher education, capable of thinking about vulnerability and possibilities of overcoming it, from an interdisciplinary approach, strengthening the processes of teaching, research and extension.

 

Specific Objectives

  • To contribute to studies on vulnerable populations, including regional dynamics and their intersection at national and global levels;
  • New formulation of understandings about the contemporary human condition in vulnerable populations;
  • Understand the dynamics that lead to the processing of collective actions, organized groups and movements of social demands;
  • To develop instruments of applied social sciences and humanities, designed to collaborate with the studies and interventions of popular demands and regional dynamics.
